Inspire/Expire

I miss the ocean and all that it brings to my soul.

I want to be floating... here.

It represents me, at my best.

Inspired by and painted while listening to Moonlight on the Sea, a musical gift from a most special friend of mine, Ron Rodgers ( @rerkaizen )

This beautiful melody surrounds me in my studio almost every day. It calms and restores. And it is simply magic to paint by....

Have a listen...  http://bit.ly/3HpqTn

Wow, this makes me gently feel my breath. 1,2 - the most simple rhythm there is and the rolling in and out of the sea. I like this very much, thank you for sharing, Shell!

@detlef_c When I'm there, I watch the water roll in, then out and I find that I am breathing, almost in time with the waves....my breath becomes that slow. Nothing else on this earth does that for me. Thank you for your words...... 1,2...I love that.

Humbled by your mention of me, my inclination is to remain as mute as I feel. Only out of a desire to not be misinterpreted as being disrespectful I bring myself to say a few inadequate words.

As you know I swim in the ocean every chance I get, and plunge out to where land becomes a small part of the horizon. It's a distant place, yet very near for all of us, a place that mixes night shadows from below with majestic swells buoying us and pushing us into an immense heaven above. It's an exceptionally magic place, where we are all at once balanced and tossed, cradled and threatened, commingled with the universe and left bereft and alone.

You've brought the experience of that here in an artistic magic of the most extraordinary kind. I no more can fathom this than I can the wonder of the ocean. This has the same immense beauty.

You see, I should have remained mute.

The interplay between landscape and seascape is beautiful. As ever the gentleness expressed here is extraordinary. This is not a violent but a passionate sea. The language of the painting is you Shell. Original, gentle and tender. Love it.

I love being in the sea. I love to swim right out, then turn on my back and feel myself surrounded by its vastness and majesty. It gives me that wonderful sense of pure freedom. A beautiful painting Shell and a beautiful sound. Thank you.
